At present, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences benefits from the expertise of 25 faculty members, including psychiatrists and psychologists, comprising four full professors, seven associate professors, and fourteen assistant professors

 

Each year, the department admits approximately 12 psychiatry residents, with around 50 residents undergoing training at any given time. In addition, the department accepts two Child and Adolescent Psychiatry subspecialty fellows, two Psychosomatic Medicine fellows, one Psychosexual Medicine fellow, and one Psychotherapy fellow annually

 

The department also plays a major role in undergraduate medical education, providing clinical training each month for approximately 30 medical students, 10 medical interns, and 20 nursing and occupational therapy students

 

The department is widely recognized as one of the leading psychiatry training centers in Iran. Its educational and clinical facilities include three adult psychiatry wards, one child and adolescent psychiatry ward, one psychosomatic psychiatry ward, several outpatient clinics, two active occupational therapy units, two active social work units, and two psychiatric consultation-liaison services: a general psychiatry consultation service at Loghman Hakim Hospital and a specialized child and adolescent psychiatry consultation service at Mofid Children's Hospital

 

The department has consistently achieved outstanding results in national specialty and subspecialty board examinations, with its trainees frequently ranking among the top candidates nationwide

 

The department's academic standing is further reflected by its representation on national educational bodies, including two faculty members serving on the National Board of Psychiatry Examiners and Evaluation Committee and one faculty member serving on the National Board of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Examiners and Evaluation Committee

 

In addition, the department pioneered the organization of five national congresses on psychiatric and psychological research. For many years, these congresses were regarded as the most prestigious and scientifically influential meetings of their kind in Iran

 

The active participation of several faculty members in national, ministerial, and university-level committees, commissions, and programs related to medical education, research, mental health, and healthcare policy has further strengthened the department’s reputation and contributed to its distinguished position among medical universities throughout the country
